Youth: The Focal Point for Everyday Life!
By Rev. Lah Say
You may be surprised that youth programs do not include a detailed checklist of all the goals you should pursue. You are already doing many amazing things! Inspired by your individual needs and interests, we create a personalized way to help you draw closer to the Saviour.
The primary purpose of the youth program is to help you strengthen your faith in Jesus Christ. Luke 2:52 teaches us that in Jesus Christ's youth, He “increased in wisdom and stature. In favour with God and with men.” He lived a balanced life. And you can do it too. It focuses on the spiritual, social, physical, and intellectual aspects of your life. You will be able to become more like the Saviour.
Youth programs encourage you to grow spiritually, socially, physically and intellectually by participating in learning the gospel Service and activities and self development
Serving others was one of the main things the Saviour did while he was on earth by finding simple and natural ways to help your family and community. So you are following His example and intending to become more like Him.
Meaningful group activities will help you and other youth find ways to serve others and grow spiritually together. Activities that are fun and uplifting are beneficial to the body. And when you come together as a group of faithful Latter-day Saint youth often you will learn and accomplish more than you could do on your own.
We should form youth groups with at least three objectives:
To lead fellow youth to know Christ and welcome him His own Saviour.
1. To help him grow in the knowledge of Christ. Knowledge of the Bible to be a good citizen of the country and live a Christian life that is a good example for the world.
2. To train youth to be good leaders both present and future and can be a witness leading others to Christ.
Every youth group and every meeting of yours must have these three goals. Your programs must lead to the intended destination.
Ask these three questions to your youth group
1. What programs does your youth conference include?; that may help lead unbelievers to know Christ and has salvation been found?
2. Do you have any programs that will help youth grow spiritually and in knowledge? And behaviour?
3. Do you have any programs to train youth to be good leaders in the church in society? And does it lead unbelievers to know Christ?
